Two out of Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines – NCR 2010 come from Assumption

  The Assumption family congratulates Jane Patricia Manalang (2010, Early Childhood Education, summa cum laude) and Criena House (2010, Media Production) for being named among the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines – National Capital Region (TOSP NCR). 

   The other eight awardees are Jose Ma. Joaquin Bunag (Ateneo de Manila University), Raymund  Siegfried Li (University of the Philippines-Diliman), Nadia Bianca Nicolette Ong (De La Salle University-Manila), Roana Bianca Reyes (University of the Philippines-Diliman), Rodolfo Anthony Semira, Jr. (De la Salle  University-Manila), Gerlie Sevilla (Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa), Wilfredo Tablante (University of the East-Caloocan) and Gifany Tongohan (Centro Escolar University).
  Jane Patricia Manalang graduated summa cum laude and received the St. Marie Eugenie of Jesus Award, which is the highest recognition given to a graduating Assumption student. TOSP-NCR also cited her for establishing a group of volunteers for the non-formal education of Don Bosco Makati and for organizing Plato’s Mall, a peer-tutorial system in Assumption. She was also a delegate to the Ayala Young Leaders Congress 2009.

  Criena House served as the President of Assumption Community Theatre and is currently President of Sining at Kultura ng Kabataan para sa Pagbabago (SIKKAP). She has performed as Juliet in “Romeo and Juliet.” She also appeared in Atlantis Production’s “Hairspray,” and in the Marie Eugenie Theatre of the Assumption’s “The Crucible”. Criena also directed plays and maintained a GPA of 1.3564 despite her many activities in school and in the community.

  Other Assumption and TOSP alumnae who were involved in the recently held TOSP-NCR awarding ceremony were Darlene Tan-Salazar (Batch 1999), who hosted the program,   Marie Eugenie Dizon (2008), who served as Organizing Committee Head and  Marika Vianna Bernardo (2009), who served as Sponsorship Committee Head.

  The two awardees were cheered on during the ceremonies by their families together with Dean of Student Affairs  Atty. Armee Javellana and Prof. Bing Yogore.

  Jane and Criena, together with the eight other TOSP NCR awardees, will be representing NCR in the national competition.
