A Sanctuary which allows the individual’s process of being whole.
The guidance Program aims to serve the needs of individual students in terms of personal growth and development. It is designed to assist the students in attaining maximum personal adjustment and develop a sense of service so that in turn, they may contribute to the growth and development of others in the community in which they live.
The program uses an integrative approach to the development of a well-functioning individual primarily to bring out the best in her potentials to the fullest and plan her future in accordance to her abilities, interests and needs.
It is a proactive program that includes a preventive focus which elicits awareness of the self, assists the individual to identify her personal needs and concerns and develop skills need in everyday life such as developing self-confidence, practice decision-making and communication skills and develop interpersonal effectiveness.
It responds to various concerns, such as academic and school-related concerns, relationship issues, coping with stress among others that come in the way of successful performance. Special groups of foreign students, those whose parents work abroad, and children of solo parents though a minority are given special attention.
It is based on what is developmentally appropriate for her level. It considers the tertiary level student who is in the late adolescence stage moving into young adulthood, who comes as a fledgling, barely out of her confused stage to searching for meaningful relationships and finding out a profession where she can find fulfillment and best contribute to society.
As a whole, it anchors on St. Marie Eugenie’s philosophy of a transformative education. There can be no real transformation unless there is the transformation of the self, a “breaking of the rock that imprisons them” so that they can find their true selves and engage in the mission that God has called them to do for God and humanity.
