Assumption College: from Open House to Ondoy Relief Center
picture1
September 26, 2009 to October 3, 2009
  • In the evening of September 26, more than 300 were stranded in Assumption as Ondoy ravaged the city.
  • From a morning event, the Assumption Open House extended to a two-day event with the Assumption Community welcoming their old and newfound friends…it was like a slumber party…with much prayer.
  • People took turns monitoring the news… praying…sharing meals and resting on gym mats in the classrooms (with blankets and pillows shared by the Assumption dormers and sisters from the convent).
  • The next morning, the Open House grounds turned into the Assumption San Lorenzo Relief Ops Nerve Center.
  • In the week that followed, relief goods flowed in and out of Assumption as Assumption Alumnae, sisters, families, students, teachers, staff, administrators,  and friends shared what they had in solidarity with the rest of the nation.
